Original comment on this plate from the Vienna Camera Club journal:

Blatt VI:  John C. Douglas in München: „Münchner Kindl” und Ch. Scolik in Wien: „Schöne Niederländerin”, beides Frühstückbilder. Auf ersterem ein Kind in Kutte und Kapuze mit Bierkrug und Rettig, auf letzterem eine holländische Schöne im Nationalcostüme, die lächelnden Mundes eine Tasse Cacao servirt.” 1.

Douglas may have been of English descent: in 1890, he is listed as being an exhibitor in the Royal Photographic Society with the listed address of Adelbert Strasse 6, in Munich. Ten years later, Douglas reappears as an exhibitor in the RPS but now lives in Cornwall.
