On the Fence was the sole photogravure taken direct “from nature”  included in the small view album Scenes From Nature, published in 1893 by the Frederick A. Stokes Company of New York. The other five photogravures- (the subtitle to the volume is Six Photo-Gravures) all by the Photogravure Company of New York- were done from paintings and include the titles Silver Stream, Going to Market, The Crossing Place, Returning from the Fête, and Pastoral Farms.
