American sculptor Edward Clark Potter (1857-1923): created this statue (made from staff) of a farmer standing with his shovel and work horse which overlooked the South Basin at the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition.  At right is the Agriculture Building and at left behind bridge can be seen part of the massive Manufactures and Liberal Arts Building.
