Sunday Morning was also published around the same time of Bits of Nature as a photogravure plate in the June, 1889 issue of Sun & Shade, plate III, whole # 10. The periodical describes the photograph as a study done on the Delaware and Hudson Canal near Ellenville, N.Y. It depicts a man and woman, most likely husband and wife, standing and sitting on the stern of their houseboat in the canal.
The photographer, Ezra Purdy Griswold, (1842-1939) was from Peekskill, in New York state. He is credited as E.P. Griswold in the Sun & Shade plate margin.
