With the location most likely in the Appalachian mountain region of the American South, (1.) a lone person seated on a boulder at lower left looks out towards a large creek and rolling hills beyond. The faint outline of a bridge can be seen in foreground. The artist’s documentation of this area took place in the late 1920’s and continued into the early 1930’s before her death in 1934. Another example is held in the Special Collections & Archives at Berea College.
