Aan Het Spinnewiel | At The Spinning Wheel

Cornelis Albertus Deul: 1886-1961

Deul would go on to become a recognized architectural photographer. The Nieuwe Instituut states Deul “had a long association” with Dutch architects Joseph Crouwel (1885-1962) and Willem Marinus Dudok. (1884-1974)

Editorial comment for this plate:

With the plate.   (translated)

The heliogravure that accompanies this issue is made after a gum print by Mr. C. A. Deul Jr. of Hilversum, who with it won the highest distinction in his department, i.e. a gilded silver medal, at the exhibition recently held there.

This piece of life is indeed highly meritorious in conception and also the execution in combination with gum printing is very commendable.

The success achieved is an incentive for the producer to continue on the chosen path with zeal. We may expect much more from this barely 18 year old art photographer in the future.
