Artistic Landscape Photography: Photographisches Centralblatt, May 1901

The May issue of Photographisches Centralblatt begins with the observation that landscape photography, besides portrait photography, is the most important subject of artistic photography. The editors of the journal state that pretty landscape photographs tend to be manufactured in the present in a large number, but artistic landscape photographs judged against this output are quite rare. In the months that follow, the journal publishes many examples of what it considers to be fine artistic landscape views as well as several portrait photographs for the reader’s edification.
