Editorial comment for this plate:
BEAGLE HOUNDS.
THE group of beagle hounds which embellishes our pages this week is from a negative by Mr. E. C. Schmidt, a professional of Berea, O. The dogs are the property of Dr. Harding, of the same place. They are young dogs of one family, and naturally group themselves in a picturesque manner. The photograph was made in a studio in order to better control the light than was possible out-of-doors; and the result is highly satisfactory to the owner of the dogs. Those of our readers who have had any experience in photographing such subjects will understand the difficulties to be encountered, and will appreciate the success which Mr. Schmidt has certainly attained in this instance.
