Der Waldsee | The Forest Lake

Der Waldsee | The Forest Lake

From the shoreline reeds of a forest lake, a woman sits while contemplating nature in the stern of a large rowboat.

The Baltic-German Transéhe-Roseneck family made their home on an estate in the town of Balvi, located in the Latgale region of eastern Latvia. (1.)

Details of the Transéhe-Roseneck family may be gleaned from a biography published by the Museum of Foreign Art in Riga,  Latvia.  The volume features the collection formerly owned by Jaungulbene (Latvia) nobleman and art collector Paul von Transehe-Roseneck (1853-1928). (2.)
