This portrait of Photographische Mitteilungen founder Dr. Hermann Wilhelm Vogel, an important German photochemist who began the journal in 1864, is reproduced as a full page photogravure marking his obituary in the January issue. A remembrance of Vogel begins on page #25.

With facsimile signature of Vogel centered within plate margin. Additionally engraved with Vogel’s dates:

geb. 26 März 1834. |  gest. 17. Dezember 1898.
