A woman, who would have been identified as a scullery maid in her time, cleans a pot inside a kitchen. The arrangement was artificial, being set up under controlled conditions.

Possibly Count Charles de Clugny, (1862-1930) an amateur working in Paris who was also known to do nude studies.
