With the plate.   (translated)

Mr. Joh. A. Bakhuis, Olst, is the maker of the negative, which I would like to refer to as the enclosed Heliogravure, entitled: “Light Study” having been reproduced. Mr. Bakhuis is one of the coryphaeën (leaders?) in our profession and therefore it gives us the pleasure to be able to offer our readers one of his beautiful genre pieces. The following are the details relating to this:

The light source was obtained by placing an electric light bulb behind the lamp screen. Lens: Linear telescope by Goerz.

Johan A. Bakhuis: 1857-1934   (Olst | Amersfoort)

Amateur photographer Johan A. Bakhuis exhibited as early as 1888 in Amsterdam. He is listed in 1891 in the Photographic News of London when he won the bronze medal for amateurs taking part in the Amsterdam International Photographic Exhibition. He  was said to “possess considerable merit, as also does the collective exhibit of the Haarlem Amateur Photo Club.” –(October 9, 1891)
