Morgenidyll im Walde

Morgenidyll im Walde, or Morning Idyll in the Forest, is a bromoil print done in a light blue tones by Austrian photographer Franz Pfennigbauer. Active in the 1920’s, his work was published multiple times in 1928 issues of Camera Craft. A full page halftone: The First Step, appeared in the 1929 American Annual of Photography. In the April 27, 1927 issue of The British Journal of Photography, an editor commented on his work entered as part of an exhibition hosted by the Bridge of Allen Photographic Society: “Of quite a different note are the 4 prints of Franz Pfennigbauer; full of feeling and charm, and printed in a decidedly higher key they cannot fail to convey the spirit of the different subjects so wonderfully rendered.” p. 246
