Returning to the Fold was one of Zerbe’s best known early pictorial photographs. Originally taken in 1904, technical information on it was printed in the January issue of the Photo-Era:
“Mr. Zerbe’s “Returning to the Fold” was taken with a Goerz lens of 8 inches focus at f. 16, with 1-25 second exposure in good light at 5 P.M. The Cramer Isochromatic plate was developed with pyro and printed in carbon.” 1.
