Printed on a high-quality white plate paper, (possibly Marais) the catalogue prints a final photogravure portrait by Maurice Bremard featured in the deluxe 1895 Album de l’Exposition d’Art Photographique portfolio titled Etude. This was intended to give exhibition attendees an idea of the quality of the plates they might expect if they purchased one of the folios.
print details within plate impression:
upper margin: Album de l’Exposition d’Art Photographique 2e Année 1895
lower margin: Etude
(Mce Brémard)
Spécimen des Planches
lower right corner: Imp. Ch. Whittmann
The 1895 folio plate has a larger image area than this example, indicating the atelier (probably Paul Dujardin of Paris) made a different plate before it was printed by Charles Whittmann.
