On a technical note, although we have indicated a screen was used for this copper-plate gravure impression, it is hardly noticeable  with the aid of high-magnification, showing up only barely in select highlight areas of the plate, as well as on a few minute areas of the white border where trace amounts of ink were not removed before the impression was made.  A possibility exists in our mind that the original matrix prepared for this particular plate was slightly different than the majority of copper-plates produced (showing a noticibale screen pattern on high-magnification) and subsequently hand-pulled for L’Épreuve Photographique.
