Kurt Gebhard: 1884-1914
Amateur photographer and chemist.
Dr. Kurt Gebhard, of Freiburg, one of the most brilliant of the younger textile chemists, died in service in October, 1914. Although only just past his 30th birthday, he had published numerous articles on light-fastness of dyed fabrics and photo-chemistry. — Jour. Industr. and Eng. Chem., Feb., 1915, p. 163. M. F. (1.)
Some of Gebhard’s research crossed over into color photography, his translated article: Notes on the Chemistry on the Bleaching Out of Dyes, from the Photographische Korrespondenz, was republished in the October 3, 1913 supplemental issue on Colour Photography for The British Journal of Photography.
