These men suffer much from rheumatism. The clay, which is dug in the immediate neighbourhood, is ground up in mills such as that shown in our second plate, which are manned by two people, one of whom- generally a boy- feeds the mill with clay and tends the horse, while the other removes the clay when ground and supplies with it the heaps round the standards.”  p. 116
