This unknown (by title) Robert Demachy photograph perhaps dates from 1900-1910 and was originally done as a gum-bichromate print on laid paper, with Demachy’s stylized monogram RD appearing at lower right corner within image area. When purchased by this archive in 2010, the French owner stated:

This poster is part of an edition made in the 1960’s. The provenance is the French publisher Romeo Martinez. I don’t know more about it.

Romeo Martinez was the editor of Camera magazine from July, 1956-May,1964. It is unknown if Camera published this poster, issued in 100 signed examples, or if it was an independent venture of Martinez after he had left the magazine. Martinez would later supply the text for the publication A Portfolio of Sixteen Rare Prints, (Un Portfolio de Seize Photographies Rares) published by Sepia/Videografic in 1975 and featuring 16 tipped collotype Demachy plates.
