Contents page lists the title of this photograph as A Wet Day in Oxford Street.
The following account is provided on separate letterpress along with photographic plate:
“It is well known to most photographers that subjects which in blazing sunlight, or under ordinary conditions, would give very prosaic photographs, may, under special atmospheric conditions, yield very pictorial effects. The example appended is the result of an attempt to take advantage of the softening effects of atmosphere on a wet day, and of the picturesqueness lent by reflections and concentration of the light.
The photograph is from a 5 by 4 film negative, taken in a No. 4 Cartridge Kodak.”
