The following account is provided on separate letterpress along with photographic plate:
“We append Mr. Hinton’s own comments: “A commonplace subject within a few yards of a busy town –an October morning with signs of coming rain; the sun hidden by a floating veil of thick haze. It was the ninth exposure of my first ‘cartridge,’ the first three being used on experimenting. The camera was held in the hand, and F8 chosen with an ‘instantaneous’ exposure, with the shutter at its fastest.”
The negative was taken in a No. 4 Cartridge Kodak.”
