An insurance underwriter by trade from Albany, New York, amateur photographer Henry W. Schonewolf (1870-1944) was an active member of the Postal Photographic Club, where members exchanged a portfolio of photographs through the mails for enjoyment and criticism.
Storm Coming!, dating to at least 1906, when it was reproduced as a halftone in the July issue of the Photo Era and titled The Coming Storm, is a blue-toned carbon print entered in the Club’s portfolio for January, 1910.
