ELBE 91 Series black clasp Folder

Leaf Form Specimen Photograms

Reminiscent in spirit to some of the much earlier botanical study photograms produced as cyanotypes by English photographer Anna Atkins, (1799-1871) this group set by an unknown practitioner features twenty, individually mounted cyanotype photograms of various identified and unidentified leaf form specimens.  They were included within a black, clasp-style folder believed to date from ca. 1920-40: the individual leafs presented here separately but in the original pagination as found. The group of images was purchased from a seller located in the New England area of the United States with the collection most likely done by an American. Although there maker is anonymous, these botanical specimen photograms may have been used as a scientific reference guide in an academic setting or perhaps a record to be enjoyed purely for aesthetic consideration.
