This unsigned genre study of an elderly woman wearing a bonnet shows her sitting on a porch holding a letter. Two barrels can be seen at lower right. This mounted exhibition photograph printed in gum on laid paper may have been taken during a summer session of the Clarence H. White School of Photography as it was purchased along with other known examples by White students, including Elizabeth G. Stoltz. Stoltz attended the White School in 1917 & 1918. Her photograph Our Neighbors was used on the inside front cover for the school’s 1920 Summer School Prospectus.  (1.)
