Homeward Bound

Homeward Bound

A sailboat, pulling a dinghy, makes its way across San Francisco Bay in California. Interestingly, titles assigned to this photograph by Sigismund Blumann have it both “coming”- Sunrise: as called “Early Morning on San Francisco Bay” when first published in 1920, and “going”- Sunset: as titled here: “Homeward Bound”. He also called it “Out of the Shadow”, when using it for the very first issue of his new magazine Photo Art Monthly, published in November, 1933.
