Portrait Study of Child in Suit & Hat

A child, believed to be a boy, holds his belt and strikes a pose before a bench and painted studio backdrop featuring a brick wall, tree and foliage.

Jeanne E. Bennett, 1861-1936, was active in the early 20th Century as an amateur and also did “at home portraiture” as a commercial photographer from her home in Baltimore, Maryland. 

Bennett’s camera logo monogram appeared as part of an advertisement for the photographer: MT. VERNON 5453  JEANNE BENNETT Photographic Portraiture 5 E. HAMILTON ST. in the an edition of the Baltimore Society Visiting List or “Blue Book” for the season of 1920.
