A young girl sucks her thumb: a childhood domestic scene captured by the Allen Sisters of Deerfield, Massachusetts.  This young girl resembles Eunice Allen at a younger age, who was the photographers niece. (1.)

See portrait of Eunice Allen reproduced as Plate 34 in volume: The Allen Sisters Pictorial Photographers 1885-1920.  Eunice Allen Blickley, daughter of Caleb and Harriet Allen, and niece of Frances and Mary Allen, was born in 1894 and died in 1971. She married George Blickley around 1917. He died in the 1920s, leaving her a widow with 3 children. After his death, she lived in Bristol, Connecticut, working as a buyer in a factory.
